Probably not.
But I have to say that I hate subscriptions because they are monthly cost that are not predictable. We start subscribing services because we think they are priced reasonably. But, subscription fees are completely up to them. They can change fees anytime they want. It’s pretty common that some services are first cheap and later change pricing. Look at Spotify and Netflix. Look at Apple. Look at Google.
It might get more controversial from here, but I hate Microsoft and Google. Oops, I said that, didn’t I?
I’ve long hated Microsoft for its arbitrary and non-intuitive designs everywhere. They completely lack design sense. As a window system, macOS is x100 times better. As an OS, Linux is x100 times better. But they are powerful and influential. I think it’s all about their value. We are forced to use Outlook and their Office suite at work. I think that MS Teams and Copilot are complete crap. Enterprise loves Microsoft, which makes me hate them even more. At least, I don’t use their OS anymore.
I used to love Google. Yes, they abandoned services that I used. But at least they were not evil back then. BUT! They threw away their splendid “Don’t be evil” mantra. They use their dominant power to influence us. They are not with us anymore. The problem is, I can’t degoogle easily. I can’t dump my gmail account. So many services are linked to it. I can’t stop using Google maps. I migrated Google Photos to Immich. But I can’t stop using Google Photos yet as it works as a reliable backup. All that I can do is to degoogle where I can.
I have more to say, but I should stop here for today.
